Essential Requirements
- A desire to work in the field of information security and to learn and develop skills in a growing profession;
- Ability to work independently and meet clear deadlines;
- Ability to plan and prioritise activities;
- Ability to complete tasks to a high degree of accuracy;
- Ability to influence and motivate others including management engagement to promulgate correct security working practices;
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to encourage a culture of information risk awareness;
- Analytical skills with the ability to provide solutions;
- Good communications skills, both written and oral;
- Good customer facing skills;
- Ability to maximize the use of windows based applications including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Desirable Requirements
- An awareness of The HMG Security Policy Framework and associated NCSC guidance
- Knowledge of information risk assessment methodologies
- Knowledge of ISO 27001 – Information Security Management Systems
- Knowledge of HMG Information Assurance Standards
- Knowledge of the Data Protection Act, GDPR, Freedom of Information legislation and Computer Misuse Act
- Some experience in an Information & Communications Technology environment
Post holders will be required to evidence:
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal and the ability to explain complex issues at a variety of levels.
- Tenacity, motivation, initiative and innovation with good problem solving skills.
- Flexibility in response to new situations.
- Highest levels of integrity with the ability to undertake sensitive enquiries with limited supervision.
- Manage and keep secure sensitive material and therefore exhibit high standards of professionalism.
