Essential Skills:

  • Evidence of research and analysis; and the application of analytical techniques; 
  • Knowledge of the National Intelligence Model;
  • Problem Solving skills;
  • Critical thinking & inference development skills;
  • Interpreting & simplifying complex data sets;
  • Excellent Communication Skills, both verbal and written; 
  • Influencing and negotiating with stakeholders; 
  • Ability to build positive relationships with colleagues, internal and external partners
  • Highly competent in the use of Microsoft packages, advanced skills in Microsoft Excel;
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities; 
  • Ability to work in a high pressure environment yet still providing accuracy at all times and a high level of detail;
  • Ability to prioritise & plan own work to tight deadlines; 
  • Must have a driving licence & be prepared, if required, to work between Birmingham and Stafford or Birmingham and near Worcester; and vice versa.


Desirable Skills

  • Experience as an Intelligence Analyst within a law enforcement agency (LEA);
  • Completion of the National Intelligence Analysis Training (NIAT);
  • Experience of working with communications data within investigations, producing evidential products
  • Knowledge of relevant National/ Regional/ LEA data sources and systems including OCGM; 
  • Experience of relevant analytical tools, such as iBASE, i2 workstation, GIS applications and other customised databases;
  • Experience working in a police intelligence environment and experience of working with relevant police intelligence systems. 
  • Experience of working with covertly obtained products; 


Other Requirements:

  • Must be willing to undergo vetting;
  • Occasional work outside of normal office hours; 
  • Should have an interest in and be willing to maintain personal knowledge of changes in IT and communications technology.
  • The post holder will be expected to undertake training as and when required.
  • The post holder will be expected to comply with health and safety requirements.
