ROCU - County Lines Taskforce - Constable
Key Responsibilities:
- Investigate county lines as directed by supervision
- Apply for and interpret telecommunications data
- Arrest, detain and/or report individuals for offences, dealing with such persons in accordance with current policy, procedure and legislation
- Interview suspects in line with current policy, procedure and legislation
- Ensure continuity for any exhibits obtained during the course of the Investigation
- Obtain authority for and submission of exhibits for further examination, including forensic and e-Forensic submissions
- Digest and interpret digital forensic reports
- Obtain and review third party material in accordance with investigative and disclosure requirements
- Present telecommunications data as evidence
- Liaise with the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and complete case files in line with CPS guidelines.
- Attend court as necessary for any purpose as the investigational need dictates including court cases as the officer in the case (OIC)
- Safeguard victims and their families
- Make appropriate referrals to relevant support agencies where necessary, for victims, witnesses and offenders
Essential Skills:
- Knowledge of PACE powers and Warrants and how to apply them
- Demonstrate knowledge of all current legislation, policies and procedures relevant to the role
- Knowledge of Custody, criminal justice agencies and court procedures
- Ability to apply for and interpret telecommunications data
- Knowledge and/or understanding of progressing an investigation from intelligence to a criminal justice outcome
Desirable Attributes:
- Proactive approach to investigating crime
- Proven experience of working collaboratively with other departments and agencies.
- Ability to download and analyse digital media
- Willingness to learn to investigate serious and complex crime
