The successful candidate will have some knowledge or skill in the following areas:

  • Ability to negotiate and influence people and partners.
  • Sound intelligence background and proven experience in the investigation of intelligence.
  • A willingness to drive operations targeting organised crime groups.
  • Determination and self-motivation.
  • Sound decision making, with an ability to manage complex change.
  • Outstanding communication, report writing and interpersonal skills.
  • Research, development and production of high quality intelligence reports that are able to support strategic or operational activity.
  • Have a detailed understanding of how OPT authorities operate, how they are used within an enquiry, and the legislation and guidelines that underpin them.
  • Experience of reactive and proactive investigations and display a sound awareness of information and evidence gathering techniques. 
  • RIPA legislation governing covert surveillance and CHIS, and the general principles of the Human Rights Act 1998.
  • Understanding of the National Intelligence Model (NIM) and the concept of risk-management.
  • Liaison with a variety of law enforcement and other partner agencies on a broad range of partnership activities and proactive and reactive crime-related enquiries.
  • Understanding of the principles of ‘OCG Management’.
