Knowledge and Experience
Essential:
- Demonstrate proficient investigative skills including a good knowledge of Criminal Law together with knowledge and understanding of crime investigation procedures and reporting requirements
- Demonstrate working knowledge of PACE powers and Warrants and how to apply them
- Working knowledge of all current legislation, policies and procedures relevant to the role
- Working knowledge of Custody, criminal justice agencies and court procedures
Desirable
- Knowledge of WMP systems
- PIP2 qualification
- Have experience and understanding of criminal investigations that make full use of telecommunications data
Skills
Essential:
- Effective communication skills using a variety of methods to ensure clear, accurate sharing of information
- Negotiation skills
- Skills requiring access of Force and national systems
- Demonstrate knowledge of use of covert investigative tactics in line with requirements of RIPA
Desirable:
- Previous investigation experience
- Previous leadership / supervisory experience
Hours of Work and Flexibility
The post holder will be contracted to work 36.5 hours per week on a Mon – Fri basis working between 0800 and 2000. They will need to have the ability to travel to different locations as required.
Core Hours will be 8:00 x 16:00, however flexibility is required.
Flexibility in hours / length of duty may be required at times as required by the demands of the role
All other terms and conditions will be in line with the Police Staff Council Handbook and the post holders Contract of Employment.
Vetting
Successful applicants will be required to pass both Recruitment Vetting and Counter Terrorism Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.
Medical (Operational)
Appointment to this role will be dependent upon successfully medical checks, which may include a drugs test and if required a fitness test.
