Planning Officer - Fixed Term Contract until August 2022

Salary Band:  Band C Lower

Salary: £21,135 - £26,016

About the role:


Under the governance arrangements of West Midlands Police, the Chief Constable will partner with national and commonwealth security agencies, to plan and deliver the security and public safety response for the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games (CWG). 

The post holder will be responsible for working as part of a team to plan and deliver on resources, transport, accommodation, feeding and briefing of all staff deployed to the Commonwealth Games 2022.  




 Key Responsibilities:

·      

         Build and maintain effective working relationships, both internally and externally, with Mutual Aid, Force Departments, National Police Forces, NPoCC (National Policing Co-ordination Centre).

·         To deliver the logistics are delivery plans in relation to resources / accommodation / transport and catering.

·         To present / communicate regular updates of plans to lead planner and other team members.

·         Support relevant Commonwealth Games functions during the build-up, operational phase and build down.







Essential

·         To be able to demonstrate experience in the principles of event planning.

·         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

·         To be able to develop and sustain a range of partnership relationships.

·         To be able to demonstrate influence and negotiation techniques. 

·         Knowledgeable and competent in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Powerpoint.

·         Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise tasks, and display motivation and commitment.




Desirable

·         Ability to complete objective setting to medium and long-term cycles, co-ordinating a complex range of activities and balancing competing needs.

·         Experience of planning multi-venue events.

 

 

 Conditions:

 

·         Interviews will be held during January 2021

·         x2 Post holders to commence their role on 1st March 2021 

        x1 Post holder to commence their role in July 2021

·         Successful applicants will be subject to appropriate vetting.
