Qualifications / Experience
Essential

Qualified, practising solicitor or barrister with a valid Practising Certificate for England and Wales, or a Fellow of CILEx and a CILEx Advocate/Litigator holding advocacy certificates.

Working knowledge of police related legislation such as the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984, and other important legislation governing the civil preventative orders such as the Sexual Offences Act 2003, the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002, the Modern Slavery Act 2015 (not exhaustive).

Clear and effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills.

A lawyer with a “can do” attitude and relevant experience who will enjoy the fast-paced nature of operational police legal work.

Experience as an advocate.

Excellent analytical and drafting skills.

Sound legal judgement.

Ability to work autonomously or as part of a team, and being capable of taking on new areas of work with minimal supervision. You will also be able to deal with sensitive and confidential information.
Conditions:
This is a full time role working 36.5 hours per week utilising a hybrid working approach. Depending on the demands of service the post holder will be required to work out of both West Midlands and Staffordshire offices. The post holder will be required to travel to locations throughout the Force areas.

Vetting
Successful applicants will be required to pass Management Vetting and Security Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.
Medical
Appointment to this role will be dependent upon successfully medical checks, which may include a drugs test and if required a fitness test.
Shortlisting & Interviews
Papersift shortlisting will be completed during week commencing 30th May 2022.
Interviews will be held week commencing 13th June 2022.
