Qualifications / Experience
Essential

You must be a qualified, practicing solicitor or barrister and must hold a valid Practicing Certificate for England and Wales, or must be a Fellow of CILEx.

You will be able to demonstrate experience of advising on a range of complex cases (Primarily Commercial, Procurement and Contract matters) and have knowledge of the appropriate legislation and procedure requirements around collaboration and procurement exercises.

You will provide resilience for all work conducted for the wider Joint Legal Services in relation to all aspects and functions of its work and be able to monitor and advise upon any legislative changes and other legal developments affecting the Chief Constables and Police and Crime Commissioner.

Your interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills will be of a high standard, with the ability to work with a wide range of personnel across the two Forces.

You will have excellent analytical skills, first rate drafting skills, and be able to demonstrate sound and balanced judgement with good attention to detail.

Having the ability to work under pressure, you will excel at meeting tight deadlines and have strong file management skills. Being tactically aware, you will be able to evidence prior experience in providing legal advice to senior figures in an organisation, and have a constructive approach to problem solving.

In addition, you will be able to work autonomously or as part of a team, and be capable of taking on new areas of work with minimal supervision. You will also be able to deal with sensitive and confidential information.
Conditions:
This is a full time role working 36.5 hours per week utilising a hybrid working approach. Depending on the demands of service the post holder will be required to work out of both West Midlands and Staffordshire offices. The post holder will be required to travel to locations throughout the Force areas

Vetting
Successful applicants will be required to pass Management Vetting scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.
Medical
Appointment to this role will be dependent upon successfully medical checks, which may include a drugs test and if required a fitness test.
Shortlisting & Interviews
Papersift shortlisting will be completed during week commencing 30th May 2022.
Interviews will be held between 7th - 15th June 2022.
