As a trainer within the Specialist Investigative arena you will use your extensive knowledge of investigations, working with colleagues, partners and communities, skill and experience to assist you in researching, designing and delivering learning and development programmes.  


You will work alongside investigative training colleagues on a regional and national level to ensure that our programmes are of the highest quality and support operational delivery. By joining the team you will have an exciting first-hand investigative influence on new officers joining WMP who are undertaking the PCDA or DHEP programmes alongside shaping future detectives within specialist investigative arenas.


WMP’s Operational Learning and Development department are seeking creative training methods to be more inclusive to our workforce and you will be responsible for devising new approaches to delivering learning to wider audiences through a variety of means, using technological and interactive methods where possible.  You will provide training subject matter expertise and advice and know where to find your subject matter experts within policing and beyond.


You will be an excellent communicator being able to deal effectively with people on a one to one basis and in larger groups.  You will be able to demonstrate the highest standards of professionalism as determined within WMP’s People Deal.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

 

Essential:

  • Trainers to have an operational investigative background within a PIP level 2 arena; with sound working knowledge of the relevant operational legislation, practice and procedures
  • Trainer to be an accredited PIP 2 Detective, having  successfully completed the ICIDP or CID foundation course with evidence of sign off
  • Good knowledge of Diversity and Inclusion issues including legislation
  • To have training qualifications as a minimum of PTRLDP and/or  Level 3 Award in Education and Training and Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training or be prepared to achieve them once in post
  • To be prepared to work towards a Level 7 Award in Education (Masters).
  • Experience of using basic IT systems including windows based technology

 

Desirable:

 

  • Existing training qualifications from Level 3
  • An existing Masters qualification in any subject
  • Experience of working on a Major Incident/Homicide
  • Experience of working within Public Protection
  • Experience of working under the direction of/or being an SIO previously
  • Experience in a surveillance or intelligence role
  • Experience in working in a serious and complex crime arena
  • Experience in digital/cyber policing.
