Higher Analyst
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Essential
- At least three years analytical experience within an intelligence environment.
- Qualified to graduate level in a relevant subject or studying for a post graduate qualification in a relevant field.
- A depth of experience with complex strategic and tactical intelligence analysis and planning.
- Evidence of negotiating & influencing skills
- Evidence of coaching and mentoring experience, and of training delivery
- Experienced in the use of analytical tools and systems
- Effective interpersonal communication skills: including verbal and written. The post holder will be articulate, methodical, conscientious and concise.
- Ability to conduct research across multiple datasets.
- Practical application of open source and internet research methodologies.
- Ability to build positive relationships with colleagues, internal and external partners.
- Experience of and ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative, effectively planning and organising activities and resources to meet objectives.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritise workloads and produce accurate work within tight deadlines.
- Cultural competence across all communities and the protected characteristics within the Equality Act.
Desirable
- Knowledge of the (IPP) Intelligence professionalization programme, published by the College of policing.
- Evidence of preparing and delivering presentations.
- Evidence of working within a serious and organised crime setting.
HOURS OF WORK AND FLEXIBILITY
The core hours of this role will be Monday to Friday 0800 to 1600hrs, working outside of these hours may be required.
There is a requirement to work flexibly at all times with due regard to prevailing workloads and priorities. There may be a requirement at times to travel to other locations within the Force area.
Due to the nature of this role it is essential that you’re flexible in terms of your working location and are prepared to work temporarily at other locations.
Must have capability to travel to different locations across the Region and undertake all assignments in a timely manner. Due to the requirement to work flexibly, unsocial hours and personal safety for lone working; public transport may not be available or suitable at these times.
VETTING
Successful applicants will be required to pass Management Vetting scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.
Open day
Force intelligence will be holding an open day for the post of Higher Analyst at 1800hrs on 6th August 2021, the event will take place at the Lord Knight Suite, Tally-Ho Conference and banqueting centre, Pershore Road, Birmingham B5 7RN
The closing date for applications is Midnight 15th August 2021. It is anticipated that interviews will be held between 6th and 17th September 2021. If there are any days or times you are unavailable during this period please make a note of this in your application.
The selection process will be conducted using the College of Policing, Competency Values Framework (CVF) level 2(Supervisor/manager).

Appointment to this role will be dependent upon successfully passing vetting and medical checks, which may include a drugs test and if required a fitness test.
