Facilities Operations Assistant-Part Time (Fixed Term Contract)
Role Responsibilities:
Undertake learning and development opportunities to demonstrate competency in performing all duties within the role, such as safe use of cleaning equipment and machinery, manual handling and lifting equipment, and police driving proficiency evaluation;
Carry out any other duties commensurate with the purpose and grading of the post that may from time to time be determined by line manager.
Essential Skills and Competencies:
Full, clean driving licence;
Able to undertake the full range of duties, including work involving heavy lifting and manual handling;
Able to demonstrate the ability to work on own initiative;
Good written and verbal communication skills;
Desirable Skills and Competencies:
Previous experience in a similar role or relevant life experience. This may include learning gained from short courses and/or formal training;
Health and safety awareness qualification;
Experience of manual handling;
BICSc cleaning competency certificate.
Empty confidential waste bags from the shredding machines and remove, shred, and dispose of rubbish, confidential waste, and recycling to a central disposal point;
Assist in the movement or relocation of furniture, equipment and delivered goods such as foodstuffs, stationery and other items, including completing any paperwork/records;
Follow cleaning standards and best practices to enable the safe and efficient cleaning of offices, washrooms, toilets, and other specialist areas at any premises occupied by Police officers and staff;
Maintain cleaning equipment and materials and to report defects to line manager;
Prepare designated meeting, training and conference spaces as requested and clear and clean rooms after use;
Report maintenance faults, broken, surplus or shortfalls of furniture as necessary and assist with minor repairs including painting, replacing light bulbs etc.;
Collect and deliver post, furniture and parcels from a number of locations;
Carry out litter picking at public and staff entrances, external grounds, sweeping and clearing of car parks and surrounding outer areas, garages, store rooms, and waste compounds as necessary;
Clear ground level drains and gullies, ensuring they are free from any obstructions, working outdoors and in unpleasant or hazardous environmental conditions;
Maintain and monitor all external waste receptacles (bins, skips, compounds) and report any service issues;
Subject to risk assessment of working in adverse weather conditions, grit footpaths and car parks in the event of snow or icy conditions;
Assist in making safe areas affected by flood damage and/or other spillages;
Escort maintenance contractors in order to allow them access to areas;
