Building Services Engineer
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- Degree in engineering (or equivalent professional experience), with relevant building services knowledge.
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills.
- Proven knowledge of legal, health and safety legislation within the construction industry.
- Proven ability to manage concurrent diverse activities in a multi-site working environment.
- Proficient in the use of common IT tools such as MS Office.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision and prioritise workloads.
- Good general knowledge of building services, with detailed knowledge of at least three services such as generators, legionella, HVAC, lightning protection (these are examples only, the range of services used is large), or the ability to quickly acquire it.
- Familiarity with the legislation and standards relating to building services.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills.
- Good problem solving skills, including the ability to use data and structured experimentation.
- Project management skills, especially planning and risk management.
- Ability to work under pressure with competing demands.
Desirable
- Chartered Engineer
- Membership of a professional engineering institute
- Working understanding of public contract and procurement procedures.
- Working ability in the use of AutoCad.
- The ability to innovate.
