Training Officer - Physical Training
Essential:
- Good knowledge of Diversity and Inclusion issues including legislation
- To have training qualifications as a minimum of PTRLDP and/or Level 3 Award in Education and Training
- Complete and pass the relevant trainers courses within six months of appointment
- Experience of using basic IT systems including windows based technology
- Effective written and verbal communication skills to ensure clear, accurate and appropriate sharing of information.
- Ability to manage own workload, prioritising when required and taking initiative to resolve problems.
- Previous experience of training design and delivery
- Knowledge of learning and development tools, techniques and best practice
- Understanding of blended training approaches
- Understanding of training and development principles, including quality assurance and continued professional development.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build and manage effective working relationships across a spectrum of stakeholders, internal and external
- Experience of working in collaboration with partner agencies, particularly public and third sector
- Physically fit and capable of passing the Police Job Related Fitness Test to Level 6:3 (multi-stage 15 metre bleep test).
Desirable:
- Hold a physical training qualification or other recognised instructor / trainers qualifications in Personal Safety , Method of Entry, Health & Safety, First Aid, Pedal Cycle

- Recent experience of training delivery in relevant subject areas (Personal Safety , Method of Entry, Health & Safety, First Aid, Pedal Cycle training)
- Hold a full UK Driving Licence
- A1 or TAQA Assessor qualified
- IOSH / NEBOSH trained
Hours of Work and Flexibility:
- The role is primarily based at the Tally Ho Training Centre in Edgbaston, Birmingham, with core delivery hours between 08:00hrs and 16:00hrs, Monday to Friday, although some weekend working will be included in the shift pattern. Flexibility will be required to deliver training on evenings and from other locations across the force area, but flexible or part-time working patterns will be considered.
- The applicant will be required to travel to deliver training, attend meetings, forums, workshops etc. across the region and nationally and use of applicant’s own vehicle or public transport will be necessary
- Travelling expenses are paid in accordance with Force policy
Appointment Type:
- Full time subject to six months’ probation and vetting.
Eligibility:
- Been continuously resident in the UK for the past three years
Line Management:
· The post holder will report directly to the Physical Training Supervisor
