Superintendent (WMCTU)
A Superintendent is required to:
- Maintain personal security and safety and be alert to the security of others
- Determine the concerns and priorities of communities in relation to safety, social inclusion and the prevention and intervention in relation to cime
- Set, monitor and review strategies for delivering against set the WMCTU People Plan
- Put the strategic business plan into action
- Obtain additional finance for the organisation
- Improve organisational performance
- Promote a real belief in public service, focusing on what matters to the public and will best serve their interestsBuild public confidence by actively engaging with different communities, agencies and strategic stakeholders, developing partnerships and ensuring people can engage with the police at all levels
As a senior
leader a Superintendent is required to:
- Establish a clear future picture and direction for the operational unit, focused on delivering the force and unit vision and values
- Identify and implement change needed to meet force objectives, thinking beyond the constraints of current ways of working and is prepared to make radical change when required

- Think in the long-term, identifying better ways to deliver value for money services that meet both local and national needs
- Encourage creativity and innovation within the operating unit
- Inspire people to meet challenging organisational goals, creating and maintaining the momentum for change
- Delegate responsibility appropriately and empowers others to make decisions
- Monitor progress and hold people accountable for delivery
- Define and reinforce standards, demonstrating those personally to foster a culture of personal responsibility with the unit
- Ensure that all staff understand the expectations, changing needs and concerns of different communities, and strives to address them
- Treat people with respect and dignity regardless of their background or circumstances, promoting equality and the elimination of discrimination
- Express own views positively and constructively, and fully commit to team decisions.
