West Midlands Police is undertaking a period of unparalleled change and innovation; technology is pivotal to both maintaining operational capabilities and building future success.  As a Senior Software Developer you will be working within the Delivery Management function alongside a committed and enthusiastic team of other developers, supported by the Development Team Manager. You will be responsible for leading and participating in the further development of our ground breaking digital solutions and service offerings.


There will be an expectation for you to be a technical lead and bring extensive knowledge to the team, both in terms of existing technologies already in use as well as alternative methods which could bring about service improvement.

  • You have experience in acting as a Scrum Master on the delivery of software solutions  
  • You have acted as a mentor to more junior developers
  • You have the ability to translate business requirements into software designs
  • You have extensive and up-to-date knowledge in the development of various Microsoft and association technologies         
  • You have good interpersonal and communication skills

Software skills and experience

It is essential that the post-holder has considerable knowledge and experience of development in at least one of the two
core areas:

  • Mobile App Development (preferably Android, Hybrid)
  • Angular JS
  • Apache Cordova
  • Ionic framework
  • jQuery


  • NET Web Development
  • C# .Net (preferably MVC)
  • HTML
  • CSS
  • Database interaction (Oracle and/or SQL Server)
  • Bootstrap
  • JavaScript
  • jQuery
  • IIS deployment and administration
