MANAGEMENT VETTING / SECURITY CLEARANCE DESIGNATED POST

Please note you will need to have been in your substantive post for at least 12 months 

 

The Strategic Intelligence Officer is an established role within the Regional Intelligence Unit and is fundamental to our management and co-ordination of our response to regional high risk, threat and harm. The intelligence officer will be responsible for an assigned thematic area in line with the ROCU control strategy, and will produce products and service requests from a range of LE partners and agencies such as the NCA. This will involve working closely with Analysts and Researchers to manage our activity to meet these complex tasks.

This post holder will also need to provide contingency and support the wider threat desks.

This role within the ROCU is a chance to experience working in the collaborative working environment between Staffordshire, Warwickshire, West Mercia, and West Midlands Police in order to reduce the impact and increase the disruption of serious and organised crime within the region and beyond.

We work in partnership alongside other UK law enforcement agencies and many other partners from both private and public sectors to target those areas of criminality that pose the greatest regional and national threats.

Essential skills:

• Proven ability to deliver accurate and succinct intelligence products in line with specified deadlines.

• Proven experience of ability to research and analyse information.

• Thorough knowledge of intelligence systems and processes.

• Demonstrate highly effective interpersonal communication skills: including verbal and written skills. The post holder will be articulate, methodical, conscientious and concise.

• Work effectively with minimum supervision whilst remaining team focussed. Ability to work under pressure, prioritise workloads and produce accurate work within tight deadlines.

• Ability to operate with the highest standards of integrity, discretion, confidentiality and aptitude to manage highly sensitive information within the Government Security Classification (GSC) and Security Policy Framework (SPF).

• Knowledge of police systems and policing; current legislation, policies and procedures (e.g. GDPR, Human Rights Act, CPIA, ROCU Control Strategy).

 

Desirable

• Knowledge of covert policing techniques.

• Experience of working in an intelligence/information field.

• Experience of working with sensitive products and knowledge of sensitive and highly sensitive material, CPIA.

• Experience of working with Regional and other LE Partners.

Vetting
