ROCU Prison High Harm Officer
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and progress opportunities linked to mobile/digital devices in custody linked to PRAS/High Harm offenders
- Undertake criminal justice investigations against PRAS/Highest Harm offenders as directed by Regional Prison tasking processes
- Provide a consultative service to all agencies involved in investigations, interventions and disruptions within the prison estate, with specific responsibility for ensuring Criminal Justice and Police procedural requirements are compiled with regarding activity linked to PRAS/Highest Harm offenders
- Ensure close working and liaison with PIOs, HMPPS RIUs, SOCU and JEXU teams, NPICC, ROCU/CTU networks, GAIN and the RPIUs in managing the risk from PRAS/Highest Harm offenders
- Work in liaison with HMPPS to be the police lead on managing the joint assurance activity against PRAS/Highest Harm offenders
- Be the bridge between HMPPS/RPIUs and Force/ROCU/CTU Tasking processes regarding Criminal Justice opportunities against PRAS/Highest Harm offenders in custody where police investigative activity is required.
Key Requirements
- Must be able to effectively case manage, work on own initiative and with limited supervision
- Must have investigative and/or disruptions experience and knowledge or organised crime groups/level 2 criminality
- Must have strong communication skills and be able to demonstrate high levels of honesty and integrity
- Must be able to problem solve and take ownership for delivering outcomes against identified people and problems
- Must be able to work within a multi-agency team
- Must be willing and able to respond to national deployments if required
- Must be confident in seeking support from, offering support to and holding others to account in managing risk
- Must be committed to their own professional development and to supporting that of others
Desirable skills and experiences
- To have successfully passed the NIE and completed the initial crime investigators development programme (ICIDP)
- Be an experienced investigator
- Basic knowledge of regional organised crime and counter terrorism policing, legislation, structure and practices
- Good knowledge of intelligence handling processes and covert tactics in investigations
- Knowledge of criminality within prisons and the regional prison estates
