Essential knowledge and experience 

  • Accredited Detective Sergeant, having completed the IMSC (or equivalent programme) and have a proven background of investigatory experience involving complex crime investigations. 
  • Demonstrate and exhibit high standards of integrity and professionalism

Desirable knowledge and experience

  • Experience of undertaking sensitive high profile enquiries with limited supervision 
  • Demonstrate and exhibit high standards of integrity and professionalism 
  • Knowledge of Regulation of investigatory powers act 2000 legislation, Investigatory Powers Act 2016, structure and practices
  • Knowledge of covert policing techniques
  • Experience in the role of Case / Exhibits/Disclosure/Investigating Officer within a major investigation environment
  • Working knowledge of the National Intelligence Model, together with the tasking and coordination process
  • Evidence of operating as a deputy senior investigating officer
  • Have a valid UK driving licence and advanced and/or basic police driving grade. 

Essential skills 

  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Effective leadership qualities commensurate with the Competency values framework
  • Effective file building skills including disclosure principles and presenting complex information.
  • Evidence of adapting to a new environment and absorbing complex matters quickly and efficiently
  • The post requires a significant amount of flexibility and occasionally involves short notice changes to working hours due to the nature of the role.

Additional information 

  • The role requires the post holder to perform duties on a regional basis
  • A willingness to travel and be flexible when required responding to call out at short notice 
  • Performing the on call requirement when stated
  • Successful candidates will need to cooperate with and successfully pass the vetting process (condition of being offered a post)
