Knowledge
& Experience
Essential:
- Previous experience of producing clear, concise and accurate reports
- Experience of working in an environment dealing with the public
- Working knowledge of confidentiality and data protection issues
- Be willing to successfully undertake any training requirements in respect of the role, to include:
- ICIDP
- National Review Officers Course
- West Midlands Police IT Systems training
- Any other training as the role requires
- Previous police experience of serious and complex crime investigations
- Previous experience in criminal law and criminal justice system
- Experience of working effectively in a team
- Experience of dealing with conflict
- Be qualified to ICIDP level or equivalent experience
- Previous experience of reviewing major crime investigations
- Previous police experience of homicide investigations
- Experience of working in a multi-agency environment, working with partner agencies
- Working knowledge of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act

- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Self-motivation, self-management and decision making skills
- Flexible approach to problem solving
- Ability to assimilate, interpret and review a variety of information and produce reports outlining findings/recommendations
- Demonstrable presentation skills
Hours of Work and Flexibility:
- Hours of working will be Monday – Friday between 8am and 4pm, although post holder may be required to work outside these hours from time to time for which they would be compensated accordingly, taking into account individual circumstances
- May be required to work outside normal working hours on occasions, including Bank Holidays and weekends. May be required to attend work at short notice, again taking into account individual circumstances
- Requirement to hold a full UK driving license and pass the WMP driving test to drive unmarked Police vehicles if required
- This role may require the post holder to perform duties on a force wide basis
- Requirement to travel out of the force area, where necessary, to progress investigations.
