About the role:


In preparation for the Commonwealth Games (CWG) in 2022, West Midlands Police (WMP) is looking to recruit a Resourcing & HR Lead. This is an exciting opportunity for you to develop and implement the Commonwealth Games Resourcing Plan, which supports the delivery of the 2022 Games through West Midlands Police resources whilst underpinning the Force vision and values and People Deal.


The Resourcing & HR Lead will be the owner of all CWG Planning team resourcing and recruitment processes, and will integrate the Force ambition to recruit a Diverse Commonwealth Games team which reflects our community and builds a legacy for West Midlands Police.


You will create strong and professional working relationships with the Commonwealth Games Planning team and across West Midlands Police, acting as the HR interface to People and Organisational Development (POD) and the wider organisation. You will also provide a HR advice and support to line mangers on all employee related matters for the CWG team.  


In addition, you will engage with Line Managers to encourage a proactive approach to people management and practices that builds a culture in line with the Force’s vision and values. You will also provide managers with the understanding and tools to effectively manage and develop best practice in the management of staff and their well-being, and ensure HR matters are handled fairly and consistently in line with legal requirements and the Force’s vision and values.

 

We are looking for someone who ………….

  • Is professionally qualified with a proven track record of Resourcing and HR knowledge 
  • Has an understanding of Employment Law and the application of relevant legislation
  • Has experience of case management
  • Possesses excellent administrative skills
  • Has generalist HR experience working within an HR environment covering the following:
    1. Resourcing and Recruitment -significant for this post
    2. Attendance Management Advice and Support
    3. Performance Management and Leadership Advice and Support
    4. Grievance and Disciplinary Advice and Support
    5. Develop and Implement the Diversity and Inclusion Plan 
    6. Stakeholder Management linked to POD/Learning & Development/WMP
    7. Employee Support/Welfare
    8. Employee Development/Talent Management
    9. Quarterly Performance Review - Accountability for People Matters

 Working Conditions


Core hours Monday to Friday, 36.5 hours per week, however you will need to show flexibility in being able to meet the demands of the department and role when necessary.


You will work as part of a central team which sits in the People Organisation & Development function where you will have specific responsibility for designated areas of the organisation.


Although based in Birmingham city centre, you will also work from other locations in line with organisational need. Agile working is available.
