Qualifications

Knowledge & Experience

Essential:
  • Must have been a Police Authorised Firearms Officer
  • Experience in working as a substantive supervisor, within a firearms user group
  • Understanding of the principles of the National Police Firearms Training Curriculum
  • Understanding of the principles of the APP on the Police Use of Firearms and Less Lethal Options
  • Must have detailed knowledge of NPFCC Authorised Professional Practice for Armed Policing and Conducting Energy Weapons
  • Experience in working as a Firearms Tactical Advisor.
  • Experience in formulating, communicating and implementing Firearms Policies and SOPs
  • Experience of strategic and service planning.
  • Experience of using research to inform policy and strategy development.
  • Keyboard skills and good standard of computer literacy.
  • National Police Firearms Instructors Course
  • Passed Health & Safety standard of IOSH 
  • Has achieved a good attendance record.
  • Full UK Driving Licence and vehicle available for business use.

Desirable:
  • Knowledge and experience of the College of Policing’s Quality Assurance Management System (QAMS)
  • National Police Post Incident Managers Course
  • National Examination Board in Occupational Safety & Health (NEBOSH) National General certificate or equivalent
  • Recruitment and Selection Course.
  • Computer literate and possess keyboard skills
  • Knowledge of I T based Firearms / Armoury Systems (Chronicle)
Hours of Work and Flexibility:
  • The post holder will be contracted to work 36.5 hours per week but will need to be flexible to meet the demands of the post and may have to work outside normal core hours. 
  • The post holder will need to have the ability to travel to different locations across the region, as required
