Essential requirements

  • Experience of working with young people
  • Experience of delivery of education sessions working with the general public, school children and specialist groups within a museum environment.
  • Experience of managing staff and/or volunteers in a museum environment
  • Experience of utilising museum collections for educational purposes.
  • Experience of using digital platforms, websites and social media to increase audience
  • Experience of delivering a proactive and quality customer experience
  • Knowledge and experience of writing risk assessments
  • An understanding of the National Curriculum and Citizenship in relation to policing and history.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills including written and verbal
  • Presentation skills – being able to deliver effective presentations with and without PowerPoint
  • Being able to influence, engage and inspire young people
  • Effective time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to utilise Office packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and social media platforms

Desirable requirements:

  • Teaching or history qualification at degree level
  • Knowledge of West Midlands policing history and current policing safety messages and priorities

Most importantly of all you must have a passion for museums and culture with the belief that they can change lives.
