Grade: Band D Lower

Salary: £28,353 to £34,614

About the role:


Applications are invited from police staff for the post of Financial Investigator with the RART based at Steelhouse Lane Police Station.


RART is a multi-agency collaboration created specifically to optimise opportunities presented by the Proceeds of Crime Act (2002) and associated legislation to recover criminal assets from those engaged in organised crime.

You will be part of a talented team of police officers, police staff and professionals from a number of partnership agencies whose ability combined is recovering millions of pounds, increasing confidence in the criminal justice system and contributing towards a fairer society.


Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To be responsible for the investigation of financial transactions relating to identified suspect offenders in order to trace and recover assets obtained via criminal activity.
  • To work within the terms of relevant criminal and civil legislation to develop and execute sound investigative strategies, prepare statements as required by courts and give evidence at subsequent trials.
  • To liaise with internal and external agencies, such as HMRC and NCA.
  • To exchange and develop relevant intelligence and information.
  • To be responsible for the management of disclosure issues in accordance with relevant legislation.
  • To provide advice on POCA related matters to stakeholders.
  • To carry out other duties that are commensurate with the post that may be from time to time determined.


The assessment process will be taking place in central Birmingham during late September/October.  

 

Management Vetting will  be required for this position.

This is an exciting opportunity for member of police staff to become involved in innovative areas of policing and make an impact on crime at a regional level as part of the wider ROCU.


Formal Investigator and/or Financial Investigator status, whilst ideal, are not a pre-requisite. Where necessary training will be provided, but the successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate that they meet the job description pre-requisite skills and knowledge criteria.


West Midlands Police are currently undertaking a long term review of staff pay and conditions.  The grade, pay and other terms of employment are therefore subject to review and may change in the future.
