Grade: Band D Lower

Salary: £27,795 to £33,933

Closing Date: 22nd August 2018

About the role:

Applications are invited for the post of Financial Investigator within the ACE team currently based in Birmingham city centre at Steelhouse Lane Police Station.  The Regional Organised Crime Unit for the West Midlands is a collaboration between the police forces of Staffordshire, Warwickshire, West Mercia and West Midlands to fight organised crime across the region.

Funding has been secured until April 2019 but is confidently expected to be extended thereafter.

The ACE team in collaboration with the Crown Prosecution Service(CPS) and her Majesty’s Courts and Tribunal Service (HMCTS) provides a multi-agency approach specifically to optimise the opportunities presented by the Proceeds of Crime Act (2002) to recover criminal assets from those engaged in criminal enterprise.

You will be part of a talented team of police officers, police staff and professionals from the CPS and HMCTS whose combined ability is realising millions of pounds, increasing confidence in the criminal justice system and contributing towards a fairer society.

You will be responsible for the investigation of financial transactions relating to convicted offenders in order to trace and recover assets subject to court obtained confiscation orders.  The role will entail the post holder to prepare statements of evidence in support of Section 22 (uplifts) and Section 41 (restraints) Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 as well as attending court and presenting evidence.

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to become involved in innovative areas of policing and make an impact on crime at a regional level.

The applicant will ideally be a fully accredited Financial Investigator and a POCA Confiscator.  Training will however be provided for candidates without these qualifications who can demonstrate good investigative experience and an understanding of The Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 and The Serious Crime Act 2015.
