Role Responsibilities:

  • Contribution to the delivery of the vision & mission of the NCBRNC.
  • To support diversity and equality aims within the NCBRNC.
  • Recognising and highlighting opportunities to improve quality of service delivery of the NCBRNC.
  • Building and developing multi-agency relationships with key stakeholders in the CBRN community.
  • Supporting forces and regions to embed changes to training policy, practice and procedure.
  • Leading a multi-agency training team with responsibility for Strategic, Tactical and Operational Command training across all blue light agencies.
  • Ensure CBRN training is assessed, planned, co-ordinated, resourced and delivered to recognised standards.
  • Work closely with multi-agency partners in development of the UK-wide CBRN Operational Requirement.
  • Work closely with all managers, within the centre, to ensure training product content is in line with the National Response Framework, Capability developments, JESIP, ACPO Interoperability and the Code of Ethics. 
  • Manage immediate reporting staff, including completion of annual PDRs, identification of welfare, developmental and training needs and to participate in recruitment processes as necessary.
  • Manage Health & Safety, security and professional standards for the Training Unit
  • Oversee discipline, misconduct and performance issues within the Training Unit.
  • Ensure effective communication between the NCBRNC Training Unit & key partners and maintain and develop a high level of subject knowledge in CPD and Quality Assurance.
  • Provide cross directorate management and support to other CBRN business areas as required.
  • Managing projects and tasks commensurate with role and as directed by CBRN Head or Deputy Head of Centre.
  • The post-holder will be expected to perform on-call national CBRN duties as part of a NCBRNC cadre and be required to hold a valid UK driving licence as well as being currently trained and qualified to drive a police vehicle during such periods.
  • If not already qualified, the post-holder will be expected to attain qualification in CBRN Command (Bronze or Silver).
  • Occasional delivery of National and International training will be required.
Essential Skills and Competencies:
  • Qualified CBRN Commander (bronze or silver) or CBRN tactical adviser with Operational Command experience, including TCG/SCG OR is willing to undergo training to achieve commander status.
  • Current valid driving licence
  • A minimum BTEC L3 OR equivalent training qualification e.g. Certificate of Education, PGCE, or a recognised training qualification, such as Police Training Certificate OR be willing to work towards a higher Training Qualification. Knowledge of NILO/SecCo/PolSA/DVI is also required.
  • A1 Assessor trained.
  • Knowledge of CBRN policy, tactics & techniques and experience of operating within a multi-agency CBRN environment.
Desirable Skills and Competencies:

  • Up-to-date knowledge and/or experience across CT and operational policing.
  • Knowledge of Project Management principles or Prince2 qualified.
  • Knowledge in the use of MS Office products (Word, PowerPoint & Outlook).
  • Competent in the use of MS Office products (Project & Excel).
