Role Responsibilities
- To provide research and identify intelligence opportunities on high risk individuals, networks, thematic and geographical areas in order to support stakeholder objectives through production of high quality, time-sensitive intelligence products.
- Discover, confirm and collate sources of information and intelligence in order to exploit and develop the intelligence picture for CT and DE.
- To liaise with other units/agencies in the authorised collection and dissemination of information.
- Work in line with Departmental, Force and National guidelines to establish and maintain verifiable audit trails for all information/intelligence requests and requirements.
- Liaise with stakeholders, and attend meetings and operational briefings at various levels, to discuss research requirements/results.
- Support the Analysts, Open Source Internet [Intelligence] Investigators and Intelligence Officers by gathering, collating and evaluating information to facilitate the development of intelligence products.
- Prepare National Intelligence Model (NIM) compliant research products.
- Distribute intelligence products onto relevant parties, providing reassurance and validity checks to assist with critical operational decisions.
- Provide legally compliant evidential support through adhering to any policies and procedures required.
- Demonstrate a high level of integrity and professionalism when handling sensitive intelligence.
Essential Skills and Competencies
- Experience of working in a research capacity.
- Use of computers to conduct systems research and trace work, including previous usage of Windows based software, databases and any other formalised records system.
- Evidence of effectively participating in meetings, or otherwise making valuable contributions to both individual and team work efforts.
- Experience of working both within a team, and on own initiative – particularly when managing and prioritising allotted duties.
- Ability to identify patterns, trends, series, similarities and discrepancies with information.
- Plan and manage own workload.
- Ability to handle sensitive information appropriately and in accordance with policy.
Desirable Skills and Competencies
- Experience of working in an intelligence environment.
- Experience of presenting data in graphical and numerical format.
- Knowledge of current police intelligence systems.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, guidelines, processes and procedures (i.e. Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act, Directed Surveillance Authority, Open Source Centre guidelines).
- Experience of working with stakeholders and partner agencies.
- Understanding of the National Intelligence Model (NIM).
- Completion of or willingness to complete and pass, formalised training and/or other relevant qualifications.
- Strong communication skills.
- Report writing skills.
- Working under pressure and to tight deadlines.
