Role Responsibilities

  • To receive, assess, develop and investigate all new lead intelligence entering the CTU and initiating action appropriate to the threat.
  • Working with partner agencies to provide intelligence support to major covert investigations for International Counter Terrorism (ICT) and Domestic Extremism (DE).
  • Liaising with and point of contact for Local Policing Units (LPU’s) and regional partners in the development of new lead intelligence.
  • Provide intelligence support when executive action is taken.
  • Single point of contact for CTU duty senior officer.
  • Conduct intelligence debriefs where appropriate.
  • Handling of covertly obtained material in accordance with identified policy and process.
  • Provide intelligence cell support to overt/covert major incidents.
  • Out of hours cover for internal and external enquiries for Regional partners and LPU’s.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge and understanding of intelligence practices.
  • Knowledge of Covert and Overt intelligence practices.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of MOPI.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of National Intelligence Model (NIM).
  • Evidence working on major/complex investigations.
  • Initiative and innovation while working as part of a team.
  • To be able to undertake sensitive high profile enquiries with limited supervision.
  • Ability to conduct research across multiple datasets.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Effective time management and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent use of grammar and strong report writing skills.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge of CTU/CTIU/Special Branch structures and practices.
  • Knowledge of covert policing techniques and major investigations.
