Role Responsibilities:
- Carry out the transactional elements of the Vetting and Force process.
- Utilise a range of Police Information Systems to undertake Counter Terrorism research, criminal records and intelligence checks using all relevant systems, such as National CT Intelligence Systems/PNC/PND/FLINT/Covert Systems/Financial etc.
- To maintain confidentiality and security of information with a thorough working understanding of Data Protection GDPR legislation and the Government Security Classification.
- To accurately interpret and record information and intelligence regarding vetting applicants and to manage the security and storage or this information.
- Make an initial assessment of the relevance/appropriateness of information researched to establish potential threat and risk.
- To compile and document clear recommendations on vetting cases for the consideration of the Vetting Decision Maker.
- Maintain and update computerised Management Information Systems.
- Support the production of statistical performance data.
- Liaise with stakeholders including the Security Service, United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV), LPU’s and Departments.
- Actively participate in meetings making valued contributions.
- Ability to handle sensitive information appropriately and in accordance with policy.
- Dedication to continuous professional development, especially in relation to research techniques and skills.
- Any other duties commensurate with the role or band/grade.
Essential Skills and Competencies:
- Use of computers to conduct systems research and trace work, including previous usage of Windows based software, databases and any other formalised records system.
- Experience of working both within a team, and on own initiative including managing and prioritising own workload.
- Experience of working with stakeholders and/or partner agencies.
- Experience of maintaining standard operating procedures, processes and audit controls.
- Clear communicator with good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Possess a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to assimilate complex data and information.
- Proficient IT skills in Microsoft Office, Word, Outlook and Excel.
- Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
Desirable Skills and Competencies:
- Experience of working in a research capacity.
- Experience of producing usable performance and management information.
- Experience of presenting data in graphical and numerical format.
- Experience of working in an intelligence environment, including Knowledge of current police intelligence systems.
