Knowledge & Experience:
Essential:
- Post holders will be required to display and evidence:
- Previous knowledge/experience of Complaints and Conduct Investigations including knowledge of the Police Reform Act and Police/complaint/conduct Regulations and Employment Law, specifically in relation to complaint appeal processes.
- Ability to objectively analyse information and provide a clear, consistent and justifiable rationale for all decisions made, and to be accountable for same.
- A good working knowledge of PACE and awareness of criminal law.
- A proven history of ethical strong decision making supported by the National Decision Making model and threat, harm & risk.
- Can demonstrate Initiative and innovation, finding new ways to identify solutions to Organisational vulnerability.
- A good knowledge of relevant legislation, any associated regulations, or force and national policies regarding this field.
- Knowledge of Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
- Experience and understanding of the use of sensitive intelligence, its handling and dissemination.
- Ability to work independently in a pressurised environment.
- Willingness to be flexible in the working environment.
- Willingness to undergo and pass relevant vetting requirements to MV level.
- Effective partnership working with other departments and agencies.
- Sensitivity to the needs of diverse communities and individuals.
- Receive unconscious bias training.
- Ability to Work to deadlines
Desirable:
- Previously received Management vetting
- Previous PSD experience
- A working knowledge of West Midlands Police operating model and its associated risks.
Skills:
Essential:

- Ability to plan and organise own activities to ensure deadlines/customer expectations are met.
- Ability to develop and form new relationships with partner agencies such as the IOPC using negotiating skills to gain support and cooperation.
- The ability to work unsupervised and manage demand.
- The ability to provide briefings and taskings to staff on relevant information
Desirable:
- Knowledge of PSD systems and processes.
- Knowledge of WMP systems and procedures.
